A music composition exercise

I used to write music, but I haven’t done it in years. I’ve missed it a bunch and I figured I’ll pick it up again.

I don’t yet know what I’ll write exactly. I listen to a lot of trance these days, but my previous stuff was also housy and undefinable. Or maybe I’ll give up before I’ll publish something real.

Regardless, the first step for me was to recall the basics of composition. I figured that I’ll leave out all the complexities coming from miscellaneous instruments and synth parameters, and just do it with the basic piano instrument.

So here’s a little exercise I did based on the main theme of “Year Zero” that has been stuck in my head for a while.
